Book weighs over 11 pounds.

Indexed; good to fair; binding dry, joints light, rubbing to tips and corners, red spine label present but faded and worn; lacks title page, but collates to the 1784 Hogg Edition. (Printed for Alex Hogg, London.)

There is a photo-copy of a title page of a Paul Wright composed edition inserted inside the front cover.

Text is complete but some of the 80 plates are worn; frontispiece is present, but very worn and wrinkled and chipped; dedication and introduction pages very wrinkled and chipped and worn; some marginal loss, tears; the rest of the text, after about page 12, seems clean and quite good; several plates have marginal loss and chips and tears.

We have not collated it to make sure all 80 plates are present, but glancing thru the book it looks that way. Back board is holding on but quite loose and cracked all the way down the spine; at least one illustration page is completely loose with chipping around the edges.

This is an extremely rare book and we have described it as acceptable, or fair, rather than good or very good; it is difficult to find this early edition in any condition, but we think we’ve priced it to sell it.
