History of bells in the Baltic Region. Vikings believed that noise warded off evil spirits. Mena nd women alike adorned themselves with bells, bronze chains and other jewelry that jingled and clanked. Bells were attached to necklaces, headdresses, torcs and used in combination with other pendants and jewelry. Centuries later, the descendants of the Norsemen would adapt the designs of Viking bells to add to horse harnesses and sleighs, giving us the modern sleigh bell.
This item comes in a little plastic sleeve, with a printed explanation of these bells, with a little photograph of an entire bell.
This is a fragment of one of those bells.
