fair condition, black hardcover with no dust jacket.  The cover has stains, dents, scuff marks, scratches, tears on the edges and corners, some of the corners are crushed, and there is fraying at the edges and corners.  The front inside cover and first front flyleaf are covered in large stains, some writing in pen, pencil, and a large patch where something with adhesive was torn off.  The second front flyleaf has writing in pencil.  The back, second flyleaf has writing in pen.  A couple pages have a couple tiny stains on their edges, but they do not interfere with the text on the pages in any way.  Text throughout is clean, clear, and legible.
