Published for the first time in their entirety, the personal diaries and journals of Mormon founder Joseph Smith (1805-44) provide an unequaled view of this controversial American religious leader. Precious compilations have drawn from carefully selected and sometimes rewritten passages of Smith’s diaries and journals. In the present, unexpurgated edition, Smith emerges as believable and human, willing to allow both descendants and followers a complete look at his beliefs and personality.
“We are pleased and interested members of both the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.” – Daniel M. Larsen Joseph Smith Family Association
“Scott Faulring is to be commended for the time-consuming, painstaking, honest editing and representation of . . . Joseph Smith, Jr’s personal diaries and journals . . . The reading of such . . . gives one a much better ‘feel’ for how Smith’s mind worked than any secondary source possibly could.” – Edward A. Warner, John Whitmer Historical Association Journal
