This is the beautiful full color photographs volume on the history of what Joseph Smith might have looked like. It has descriptions of his physical appearance, measurements of his head, photographs of his skull, paintings, alleged photographs, and ultimately the Scannel daguerreotype that many believe is the only real photograph of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Most copies are hardcover with a dust jacket; but there are 420 burgundy bonded-leather copies.

The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Community of Christ) actually sued the author and the publisher over this book. They lost that lawsuit but the publisher did agree not to publish the book ever again, but would sell out all existing copies of the book.

Deseret Book saw the whole project as too controversial so they did not carry the book.

The book is packed with information on what Joseph Smith may have looked like: alleged photographs, drawings, paintings, the phrenological measurements of his head, descriptions from people who knew him, his death mask, his skull (which was dug up by the Reorganized Church) etc…..

Deseret Book did not carry this book. Perhaps a bit too controversial. There was a lawsuit associated with it, and the book does picture Joseph Smith’s skull, which may be difficult for some readers/viewers.
