Description
About the Book:
This collection of articles is organized into four topics highlighting the blessings available through the restoration of the gospel:
- Scriptures, revelations, and church history
- Truth – Religious and Scientific
- Protecting against apostasy and false beliefs
- Perfecting the Saints
Br. Gardner discusses modern revelation as the source of our doctrine; considers why other Christians sometimes disagree; and points out how Latter-day Saints might learn from prevailing fallacies how to be more faithful to the truth we’ve been given. His analysis of major gospel truths, taught best in the Book of Mormon and the Bible, will increase your appreciation for both volumes. His study shows that modern revelation owes much to Biblical ideas and language.
Inspired by his scientific background, Br. Gardner emphasizes that finding truth through science and religion are actually quite similar. He shows why “scientific atheism” isn’t scientific. He explains the similarities of scientific and historical methods in a discussion on how to relate troubling aspects of LDS history.
The blessings of the Restoration cannot benefit us unless we live the gospel. Therefore, Br. Gardner ends with some practical ideas on attitudes church callings, reverence, and consecration, to help us better receive what the Lord has given us, and pass it on to others.
