Fair condition, thin, black, ex-library hardcovers with no dust jackets.  The covers have scuffing, fading, some stains, small pieces torn off their edges, and slightly crushed corners.  The spine of the 1939 edition has pink and white ex-library marks.  The internal binding of the 1928 edition is torn and slightly loose, with some pages having tears on their edges.  Some pages have stains or pencil marks, but the text and illustrations throughout are clear and legible.  The front flyleaf has writing in pen and pencil.  The front inside cover of the 1939 edition has a large ex-library sticker, and an ex-library catalog card pouch.  The front flyleaf has a large, ex-library “Date Due” sticker, and some writing in pencil.
