1887 ~ Children’s Picture Album and Story Book ~ Juvenile Instructor Office

$95.00

Children’s Picture Album and Story Book ~ Published at the Juvenile Instructor Office, Salt Lake City, 1887. Pages not numbered.
Each page on the left has a black and white illustration; each page on the right is a different little story for children.
Binding is worn due to age; there is a school stamp inside the front cover; some pages, mostly blank ones, have coloring or drawing on them by real children. One drawing, actually quite good, is right over the text of one page.
Very rare little children’s book for Mormon children.
Contains these stories:
  • Cry-Baby Joe
  • The Two Street Sweepers
  • The Fisherman’s Family
  • Esquimaux and their Dogs
  • Kept In
  • Little Grandmother
  • A Waif
  • The Giraffe
  • The Orchard Well
  • An Eastern Plow
  • The Eagle and the Baby
  • Searching for Treasure
  • The Young Artist
  • Fishing
  • Without Care
  • A “Snake Charmer”
  • The Studious Boy
  • Don’t Whine (a very good cute one for boys! will teach them not to complain or to rely on others for what they can do for themselves!)
  • Monkey, Cat and Nuts
  • Going to Sea
  • An Eastern Express
  • Japanese Amusements
  • Hawaiian Native
  • Learning to Draw
  • Playing Sick
  • Vandalism
  • Alfred the Great
  • The First Paper Maker
  • White Ants
  • Return of Spring
A very cute thin hardbound book; a few pages have a little staining or soiling or small tears on the edges, but binding is strong and holding together well. Very rare!
