The Seventy’s Course in Theology — Atonement, Deity, Etc. An interesting custom-bound volume bringing together five important early Latter-day Saint theological works. Included are four of the five original parts of B. H. Roberts’s Seventy’s Course in Theology: First Year, Outline History of the Seventy and A Survey of the Books of Holy Scripture (1907); Second Year, Outline History of the Dispensations of the Gospel (1908); Third Year, The Doctrine of Deity (1910); and Fourth Year, The Atonement (1911). Also included is John Taylor’s The Mediation and Atonement (1892), second edition. The Roberts volumes are first editions.

The volume is custom bound in black leather with The Seventy’s Course — Atonement, Deity, Etc. lettered on the spine. The binding remains intact but shows significant wear, including a full-length crack along the front spine hinge and an old tape repair inside the front board; the exterior spine also shows evidence of an earlier tape repair. The contents are generally clean and in good condition, although a few pages contain pencil notes and some title pages have an owner’s name inked at the top. A fascinating composite volume bringing together important early works on Latter-day Saint theology and the writings of B. H. Roberts and John Taylor.
