Millennial Harbinger, Volume 2, 1831 – Alexander Campbell – Leather – Extremely Rare!
$10,000.00
The Millennial Harbinger. Edited by Alexander Campbell. Volume II. Bethany, VA., MDCCXXXI, Printed and Published by the Editor.
The Campbellites lost Sidney Rigdon (to the Mormons) from among their leadership, and Campbell became very critical of the Book of Mormon and the Mormon Church in general.
Contains information about the Disciples of Christ Church and also negative or anti- information about the Mormon Church, which at the time had just barely been organized in 1830. Spine has been repaired but otherwise in original leather binding; some pages are darkened with age; a few pages have smaller margins than others.
Overall a unique and extremely rare early look at both Campbell’s faith, and his opinion of the Mormons.
Contains a section called Delusions which is about Joseph Smith and the Mormons. It was first published in this book (one of the earliest anti-Mormon books) and when published as a pamphlet later, is often called the first anti-Mormon pamphlet.
The spine has been repaired with about 2/3 of the original spine being present. Some small amount of damp-staining on some pages, and some foxing, but not bad. This book is extremely rare in any condition!
