This book is signed by Samuel Harrison Bailey Smith, who lived from 1838 to 1914. He was Joseph Smith’s nephew.
[S. H. B. Smith was the son of Samuel Harrison, Joseph Smith’s younger brother. Samuel ended up part of the martyrdom because he rode a horse real hard to go to Carthage to save his brothers. But when he got there the mob chased him, knowing he was also one of the Smith brothers. After a long hard ride to get away, he fell ill and died a couple of weeks later.]
S. B. H. Smith’s diary is in the BYU Special Collections.
This copy of the book is not in particularly great condition; it has wear and some slight staining to some pages. The binding worn and faded and the corners are worn. The worst damage is at the top of the spine.
