The purpose of the study is to elucidate the publishing history of the Book of Mormon between 1870 and 1920, and through that history to gain a clearer picture of publishing and printing in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) in general. LDS publishing organization and practice was then compared both to those of mainline Protestant denominations and to two other denominations with their origins in the nineteenth century America.
