Fair condition, large, black hardcover with no dust jacket.  The cover has long tears on the spine (with some smaller ones at the corners), some small stains, scuffing, and fraying.  The internal binding is torn and slightly loose.  Some pages have stains, but the text and illustrations throughout are clear and legible.  The edges of the inside covers and flyleaves have yellowing.  The front flyleaf has writing in pencil.
